ForestWatch Policy for Outings and In Person Meetings During Covid 19 Pandemic:
For the safety of participants and leaders, GAFW has instituted the following policies for in-person meetings and sponsored member outings during the active Covid 19 pandemic.
In advance of all meetings and outings, participants shall be informed of the following:
- Do not come if you have a dry cough, fever, loss of sense of smell, or are otherwise feeling unwell;
- Do not come if you have been exposed to someone with Covid-19;
- Do not carpool;
- Bring your own facemask
- Be prepared to stay at least six feet away from other participants.
Member meetings are to be held outdoors in areas where social distancing (no closer than 6 feet) can be maintained. Participants will be encouraged to wear protective facemasks during these meetings. Printed materials should be left out for individuals to pick up rather than being passed around.
Member meetings should be limited to 10 persons.
GAFW outings (hikes, work parties, field training) are limited to 10 participants and should be held on weekdays only in order to avoid crowds on trails. Participants shall be asked to maintain a distance of 6 feet from other participants throughout the outing (unless with a family member). Participants will be asked to don facemasks any time social distancing is not possible. We recognize that wearing a facemask during outing activity may not be practical or in the best health interest of some participants.
Members typically get first notifications of hikes and, if they don’t fill up, we send out to the general mailing list. Hikes are typically free of cost unless otherwise stated. You can print an updated calendar of events below!
