Location: Darnell Creek Road, Rabun County
Description: Darnell Creek supports trout and diverse salamander communities, while the road that runs along it provides access to a public target range and access to the Bartram Trail and Rabun Bald. We will walk Darnell Creek Road, examine ongoing threats to all those values, and discuss what can be done about them. Along the way, we’ll pass through beautiful forests on the slopes of Georgia’s second highest peak.
Distance and Difficulty: 6 miles. moderately difficult.
Meeting Place: Exxon station on 441 just south of Billingsley garden center.
Please note: We will need to use back of pickup truck to the hike start point due to lack of parking!
