Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2020
Time: 9 – 11 am
Leader(s): Kathy Stege and Marie Dunkle
Location: State Botanical Garden of Georgia, Athens
Join board member and Athens area advocacy group leader Kathy Stege, and outgoing president Marie Dunkle for our first ForestWatch Athens group in-person meeting. Marie, who leads Rabun County area advocacy group, will share how they successfully mobilized to comment on the Chattahoochee National Forest Foothills Plan and on proposed sales of Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest tracts. We’ll also give an overview of concerns about the Foothills Landscape Project, and why we’ll need your help to respond to the Forest Service responses expected this fall. Our focus will be to listen to you and get to know each other; it’ll be fun.
After the meeting we’ll stroll the Orange Trail and back up the Purple Trail, a total of about 1 mile. Come for either or both.
