Location: Appalachian Trail – Dicks Creek Gap to Powell Mountain Overlook
Outing Description:
Fall color should be at its peak as we ascend to Powell Mountain under a canopy of hardwoods. We’ll lunch at a rock outcrop on the summit with views of Lakes Burton, Seed, Rabun, and surrounding mountains.
Meeting Place Directions:
AT Dicks Creek trailhead parking lot – Hwy 76 near the Rabun/Towns county line. From Clayton, follow 76 W approximately 21 miles to Dicks Creek parking.

Distance and Difficulty:
5.2 miles round trip. Difficult – The first 2.6 miles will be a mostly uphill (1000+ ft. elevation change), last 2.6 miles will be an easy-peasy, mostly downhill stroll.
What to Bring and Wear:
Water, lunch, snacks, sturdy hiking shoes, rain gear (if forecast warrants), and any meds you may require.
Cancellation: If Outing is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you via email by 6:00 pm on the evening before.
