Outing Description:
Join on a leisurely paddle around Lake Russell as naturalist Jim Sullivan shares about this area’s unique flora and fauna. From bryozoans and carnivorous plants to skimmers and wildflowers, cruise the shorelines showing evidence of historical beaver ponds with Kathy on her paddleboard and Michelle in kayak! All types of boats are welcome.

Meeting Place Directions:
Lake Russell boat ramp. On U.S. 123 East of Cornelia, near the Mt. Airy, Georgia railroad bridge, turn onto the Lake Russell Recreation Area access road. Drive about 2.5 miles, continue straight keeping lake on left. Park at boat ramp, which is before the campground. A $5.00 cash parking fee is required. The Inter-agency Senior and Access Passes, Golden Age and Access Passports are accepted and entitle the pass holder to a 50% discount on day use fees.

Distance and Difficulty: 
Winds may affect paddling difficulty, but pace will be slow and easy.

What to Bring and Wear:
All boat types suitable for flat water encouraged! Bring your own boat, gear, and lunch (We will eat at an area that has one picnic table by the dam).

Cancellation: If Outing is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you via email by 6:00 pm on the evening before.

Pet Policy: Pets are allowed.
