Outing Description:
Join us on the last leg of our Bartram Challenge. We’ll begin the hike at the GA/NC border (Hale Ridge Rd.) and hike ~9.5 miles to Wilson Gap. We will lunch on the observation tower at Rabun Bald (second highest peak in Georgia – 4,696 ft) with a beautiful 360-degree view. A Pinzgauer (google it) will be waiting for us at Wilson Gap to shuttle us back up to Hale Ridge Road at the end of our hike.

Meeting Place Directions:
Piggly Wiggly, Dillard, GA. 441 N past Clayton to Piggly Wiggly on right in Dillard. (Watch your speed entering Dillard – frequently ticketed area).

Distance and Difficulty: 
~9.5 miles, Strenuous. We will have an elevation change of 1900 feet in the first 4.5 miles, but will be rewarded with a spectacular view when we get there! Downhill for the majority of post-lunch stretch.

What to Bring and Wear:
Water (plenty), snacks, lunch, rain gear (if forecast warrants), any meds you may require.

Cancellation: If Outing is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you via email by 6:00 pm on the evening before.
