Outing Description:
The Southern Appalachians are home to a dizzying array of plants with a long history of use as medicine and wild foods. On this hike (which will be more of a meander, as we’ll be stopping frequently), we’ll look at the herbs of spring, interweaving their history with their modern uses.
Meeting Place Directions:
Piggly Wiggly Grocery Store, Dillard, GA. Look for us in the parking lot in the row closest to 441

Distance and Difficulty:
This is a slow-paced, moderate hike that still requires the ability to hike for at least 2-3 miles.
What to Bring and Wear:
Lunch, water, rain gear, sturdy footwear. (If allergic to bees/wasps, remember to bring your meds/epi-pen.) Optional: Newcomb’s Wildflower Guide or any other wildflower field guides, loupe or magnifying glass, camera.
Cancellation: If Outing is cancelled due to weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will notify you via email by 6:00 pm on the evening before.
