Date: Friday, February 19, 2021
Time: 10 – 3pm
Leader(s): Ben Cash (former District Leader) & Kathy Stege (board member)
Location: closed Locust Stake ATV trails

Outing Description: This is an educational and work outing about the ongoing erosion from the closed Locust Stake ATV trails, and resulting stream impact. Ben, with lots of other ForestWatchers, worked for decades to get it closed. The January 2012 closure is an important win! However, the Forest Service hasn’t remediated the extensive deep trenches and ruts. The inventories ForestWatch completed for closure did not include a checklist of the areas needing remediation. We need your help to do that! Registrants will be asked to do some homework ahead: download a simple trail map app (Avenza. Check out our Quick Start Guide at: gafw.org/avenza-mapping-basics) and read past ForestWatch newsletter articles about this Forest-wide issue. We’ll go slowly to take photos and document. We’ll eat lunch on the trail.
