Date: Wednesday, September 16th, 2020
Time: 10 am – 2 pm
Leader(s): Kathy Stege, Board Member
Location: Lake Russell Recreation Area Mt Airy

Outing Description: Bring your boat and gear, and paddle lovely clear Lake Russell. We’ll likely have the lake to ourselves. We’ll help each other unload boats, and be on the water by 10:30. We’ll paddle at a leisurely pace on the shaded side of the lake and look at some amazing plants along the shore. Bring your lunch along in your boat, as we’ll pull into the beach area and lunch at a picnic table (or two to maintain distance). Over lunch, we’ll talk about USFS management of the area. The day should be hot enough to enjoy the cool water for a swim too!

Meeting Place Directions: Lake Russell boat ramp. From Main St in Mt Airy (which adjoins Cornelia), take Lake Russell Rd down to the lake. Veer right at the fork and follow sign to campground. Little boat ramp is before campground. $5 parking fee/car; $2.50 for senior over 65. Note: this is NOT the huge Richard B Russell lake on the Savannah River.
