Date: Friday, October 9, 2020
Time: 9 am – 2 pm
Leader(s): Kathy Stege
Location: Hemlock Falls Trail at Moccasin Creek State Park
Outing Description: We will follow the beautiful mossy rocks and tumbling waters of Moccasin Creek on a leisurely naturalist’s stroll to Hemlock Falls. The trail eroded, rocky, and slippery in places, but no strenuous climbs are involved. We will take our time to pull out our hand lenses, take photographs, enjoy the plants and maybe even some critters. We will lunch at the falls and return by the same route to our cars.
Meeting Place Directions: The trailhead parking lot off of Hwy 197, right across from the Lake Burton Trout Hatchery (which is next to the Moccasin Creek State Park Campground on Lake Burton). After you turn off Hwy 197, you will go past the first parking area for the “Wildlife Trail” and continue to the parking area for the Hemlock Falls Trail.
See meeting place on Google Maps
