| Outing Description:Botany and natural history of mafic (but not glade) soil forests near Monticello and amidst Georgia’s Mountain Treasure areas of the Oconee National Forest. Meeting Place Directions:Intersection of Fellowship Rd and Pye Rd southwest of Monticello. Take GA 16 WEST from Monticello, LEFT on Fellowship RD then LEFT on Pye Rd (FS 1111). Park there. See meeting place on Google Maps Distance and Difficulty: 1-2 miles of moderate to flat terrain What to Bring and Wear: Lunch, water, rain gear if rain is a possibility| Cancellation: If hike is cancelled due to weather, we will notify you via email by 6:00 pm on the evening before hike. Pet Policy: One dog per hiker – must be on a leash and well-trained. |
